First Sponsor for Falmouth hosting of Funchal 500 Tall Ships Regatta Announced
“An invitation to tender went out to a handful of local design companies to join forces with Carrick’s Tourism team” reported Samantha Groom, Carrick’s Tourism Officer. “From the creative brief and wish list we provided, it was clear that whoever decided to take on this work would have to consider becoming a sponsor and we are very pleased to announce that we will be working with Twenty Twenty, whose expertise will ultimately help towards the successful delivery of this exciting event.”
John Hick, Chairman of the Funchal 500 Tall Ships Regatta organising committee in Falmouth added “It is really exciting news that we can confirm the support of our first sponsor of what is a major opportunity for Falmouth in September 2008, and we hope that this may encourage others to consider the benefits of sponsoring this event”. Anyone interested in sponsoring the Funchal 500 Tall Ships Regatta in Falmouth should contact Sarah Newton for details on 07811 943164.
Jaimie Sibert, Managing Director of Twenty Twenty said; “I am delighted to support such a high profile event that we as a company can be associated with. Falmouth and its surroundings is the perfect setting for the Tall Ships, I am convinced all local businesses will benefit from the event and I am proud for Twenty Twenty to be involved throughout the planning”.
The Regatta is organised by Sail Training International as the centre-piece celebration of the 500th anniversary of Funchal, capital of the island of Madeira. The official partners for the event are Carrick District Council as the lead accountable body, Falmouth Tall Ships Association, Cornwall County Council, South West Regional Development Agency, A&P Falmouth, Falmouth Harbour Commissioners, Cornwall Marine Network, National Maritime Museum Cornwall and Falmouth Town Council.
Since the announcement that Falmouth will be the host port for the start of the Funchal 500 Tall Ships Regatta 2008, a great deal of hard work has taken place with many local organisations and an exciting programme of events is starting to take shape. A website dedicated to the event will soon go live and the first set of programme flyers will be available by November.
