A Truly Spectacular Fireworks display for Tall Ships!
Falmouth will host the start of the Funchal 500 Tall Ships Regatta, with a fleet of some 20 Tall Ships arriving on Wednesday 10th September and leaving on Saturday 13th September in a Parade of Sail preceding the race start.
In addition to the visiting Tall Ships, during the four days there will be an extensive programme of activities throughout the town including markets, music, entertainment, exhibitions and a firework spectacular.
SAGA is the main sponsor of the firework display which will take place in Falmouth Harbour on Friday 12th September at 9.30 pm. Last April, Saga launched a “Tall Ships Regatta Cruise” giving its customers a unique opportunity to follow the start of the Funchal 500 Tall Ships Regatta on Saga Ruby. The cruise proved extremely popular and sold out within a few months. Departing from Dover on September 11th, Saga Ruby calls at Falmouth on the 12th September for an overnight stop where passengers can enjoy the festive atmosphere and the firework display and then on the 13th September Saga Ruby will cruise alongside the Tall Ships on their first leg of the race, heading to Ilhavo in Portugal.
To enable a truly spectacular display three local companies - A&P Falmouth, Pendennis Ship Yard and Falmouth Oil Services have also made financial contributions to the display.
A&P Managing Director Peter Child said “We at A&P Falmouth are all really looking forward to hosting the Tall Ships. It is a superb event for Falmouth and Cornwall and it is pleasing that the three main employers in Falmouth Docks have worked together to support this occasion and show their appreciation to all the organisers and participants. Hopefully the fireworks will be a great finale to the Tall Ships visit and everyone will enjoy them.”
Toby Allies, Head of Sales & Marketing for Pendennis Ship Yard said; “Local superyacht yard "Pendennis" is proud to support this year's Tall Ships fireworks. The yard celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2008, the last 20 years has seen Pendennis grow into a leading organisation in the global superyacht market and has become one of Falmouth's largest employers.
Paul Denmead, Terminal Manager of Falmouth Oil Services added; “Falmouth Oil Services are pleased to support the firework display during the Tall Ships visit to our port and wish the people of Falmouth and visitors a memorable experience of this event" |
