The Cornish port of Falmouth has built a reputation for hosting maritime events and this year has been selected to host the start of the prestigious Funchal 500 Tall Ships Regatta. ‘Manacles’ – Skinner’s Brewing Company’s new ale, specially brewed for the Funchal 500 Tall Ships Regatta, was launched at Expo West on Tuesday. Staff from the brewery celebrated, alongside members of the Regatta organising team for Falmouth, the first pouring of Manacles Ale. The ale will now be available at Skinner’s outlets throughout Cornwall.

Organisers of the Funchal 500 Tall Ships Regatta have confirmed that the event will go ahead as planned even though the marina plans will now be delayed. Whilst this will make accommodating the Tall Ships difficult, A&P and the organisers are working together to develop contingency plans that will support the event. The berthing plans based around using the new marina facilities will revert to use of the existing wharfs of Queens and Duchy, plus additional pontoon berths.

The fleet are looking for trainee crews to go sailing on either one or both stages of the race.
