Tall Ship Building in Action | The Poly
12 September 2008 10am - 5pm
Rory McPhee, local boatbuilder and lecturer at the Marine School, will re-create a 16 foot tall ship during the day which can be visited by the public.
Rory McPhee, ably assisted by students from Falmouth Marine School, will build a 16 foot boat using re-cycled materials informed by the pirate ships of Levant. It is anticipated that it will be a community and visitor event with all the sails being decorated with motifs and messages inspired by a variety of storylines available on the day. The boat building will take place in our Daniell gallery which will be open to the public in order that they are able to see the work in progress and get involved if they feel adventurous!.
£1 raffle tickets for naming the boat can be purchased with all monies going to Cornwall Wildlife Trust. Specifically to fund shark observation by students at Falmouth Marine School.
