Ships Crew Parade & Prize Giving
11 September 2008 4.30pm
Leaving Docks through town centre streets around the Moor, then back to Events Square. The Prize Giving for inter-ship sports, and special prizes for the Falmouth port stop over will be awarded on the main stage at Events Square. Parade for all ships participating in the Regatta, Culdrose Naval Band and bands from the ships will play throughout the route.
All the ships in the Regatta will have crew in the parade. This is a chance for those on board to really show the town the spirit of their countries. Naval Ships crew will be in uniform, whilst others will be in fancy dress or Regatta t-shirts. This is a fun event which will attract a great deal of attention, streets will be lined with spectators to marvel as the crew march by.
The parade will line up in the Docks and begin at 16.30. The route will be via Bar Road, Arwennack Street, Church Street, Market Street, Lower Killigrew Street around the bottom of the Moor to Webber Street and back through the town centre to Events Square, led by Culdrose Band or band from a ship if available.
On arrival at Events Square there will be a short Prize Giving ceremony for inter-ship sports, and special prizes for the Falmouth port stop over.
